Ooops, I almost did not get this published in time,I thought I had it in my schedule but oh well, let's talk about our Featured Artist week from the Handmade Artists Forum.  Alix of TheAlchemistsVessel. Our theme for this week is Vacation.

Alix is one of the most talented artists that I have seen in a long time.  She is dedicated to her art and she also happens to be my friend.  How does that saying go "a rolling stone gathers no moss"?  Well let me tell you that there is no moss growing on this artist.  She is one busy lady.  Below are a couple of things that just remind me of some vacations I have had in the past.

First is the "Plum Good Glass Bottle with Plum rice".  First of all I simply love this color and secondly, vacations are just "plum good" don't you think. When I am on vacation, I tend to wear more of this type of jewelry because it is light and whimsical.

Now for the second item, there is this beautiful ring that Alix created using Malachite and sterling silver.  I love the elusiveness of the design on the ring and the color of this genuine gemstone reminds me of the waters in the Bahamas.  Now that is a vacation to die for.  A cruise to the Bahamas would be really nice right now wouldn't it.

Another item that is a must have on any vacation are hair accessories.  Now me, I hate leaving the beach til the very last minute and a quick shower is all I usually allow myself time for on vacation before heading out for some good eats in a vacation location.  So stretchy knotted hair ties are just the trick.  Just pull up that hair, tie it up and off you go.  You could also pick up a few extras, just to wear as bracelets.  They are that cute.  My personal preference are the blues. You can get these from PineappleSpiceGirl at Handmade Artists Shops

If you have shorter hair or thinner hair, sweep your hair up on one side and clip it with the lovely "Pretty In Pink" paper quilled hair clip by yours truly A Bead Thing.  These are very sturdy and coated to allow you to use them in damp hair.  Now don't go running out into the rain with them however.

I hope that you have enjoyed my trip and that you will visit these shops to take a look around.  You may just find some of those "must haves" to take on vacation with you.

Be Blessed

Newest Endeavors

Hi there,
I have a few posts that need to be written today, but I think I will start with this one.  I have for the last few months been working on a new art.  Well it is certainly not a new art by any stretch of the imagination, but it is new for me.  I am always looking for new things to do and learn.  For now it is quilling, yeah right, been around for eons hasn't it.  Wonder why I just heard of it a few months ago.  I have been practicing and have started decorating my jewelry boxes with it as a treat for my buyers.  I have done a few cards here and there and in fact am working on one right now that should have already been in the mail.  Oh well, what can I say, I'm a bit, nah I won't say it.

Unfortunately I did not get photos of the boxes that I sent out or the cards that I gave but I did get a few photos and this is my newest listing on Handmade Artists.  I just love these.  I have few more in the works.  The quilling is actually the easy part. Take a look.

For this hair piece, the beads are wired through the quilled flower and onto the clip on the back which also has just a dab of glue there.  It is very sturdy.  It has been coated to make it more sturdy and also to enable it to withstand damp hair.  Now don't go running out into a Florida rain shower without your umbrella because I can't guarantee that it will make it through that but damp hair from your shower, yeah, it will be fine.

Here are just a few other pieces have made.  This first one is going to be finished off as a brooch.

Of course this is not yet complete, it does not have its beads and oh yes the curls have been tightened up a bit to the flower to make it more sturdy.  I'll show you again when it is completely finished.

The next one is a little framed candle, I made one of these without the candle and did it reversible with a white side and put them together with a photo of my grandson for a birthday treat for my BFF.  I like it with the candle in it as well.

Now the next ones are just a couple of things I did to put on cards and managed to get a photo of them before I placed them on the card.  Right, the before but not the after.  Beautiful little flower and the butterfly sits right next to it on the card.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my latest endeavor and that you will give a little shout out that you like it or not.  I love doing this type of art and the more I do the better I get as you can easily see.  The order here is last one done to first one done so you can see there is a significant difference in the quality of the work.  I'll keep practicing, you just keep buying.  Deal!!  :)    Have a wonderful day.

Be blessed

Let's Continue PEACE

This is week 2 of our blog ring.  I featured Colette last week and I would like to continue to feature her extremely talented and artistic wire wrapping skills.  But that is not all, you will also see 3 different highlights from Handmade Artists Highlights that speak to me of PEACE.  So let's get started.

This beautiful onyx bracelet does have some wire wrapping, however, it just says beauty to me.  Personally I can have no PEACE without beauty, so here it is

Love speaks of peace like nothing else I know and these delicious earrings just say LOVE.

Now be sure to click on the link for Colette here and take a look at all the luxurious pieces in her shop.

For our highlights this week I have chosen one new highlight that I created and 2 others that have been created by two of my very good friends.  Please take a look and see what you see. Let me know how these pieces make you feel.  I would love to hear your perception of handmade artisan products.

Unfortunately, for me.  My laptop does not afford me the ability to do what I would like here and that is to give you a screen shot of all the highlights that I have here.  So what I have done is to give you a link through the titles to each highlight and a few photos of products that you will find on the highlight.  My apologies for this lack of technology on my part.
 Edit:
AH HA, I figured out how to get a photo of the highlight here.  Use the link to take a up close and personal look and to select a specific item to view.
